HOW LASER GUIDED MUNITIONS WORK

HERE'S an interesting article on how laser guided munitions such as the US built JDAMs find their way to a laser illuminated target, once air-dropped from an air craft.

JDAM's dont work with Lasers

JDAMs have telemetry data downloaded with GPS search feature that air glides the bomb to its destination.

now on ground this pos can be determined by using a special laser designator to calculate the coordinates of the target.

and these kits cost the US air forcce and navy about 18,000 dollars and go on MK 80's series gravity bombs that were mass manufactured in the past.

the Navy version has a special fire retardent coating that prevents ignition during hight heat conditions if Navel vessels are burning.

We dont have JDAMs
but we have laser guided bombs in SL and LANTERN targetting pods that make this so easy.
