MORE ON THE MiG29 AIR CRAFT

ACCORDING to a prominant member of President Rajapakse's family who now is a big time weapons procurer for the Sri Lanka government, the deal to acquire 4 Mig29 SM and one Mig29 UB trainer are well under way. There are apparently other deals that are also being worked out, with the participation of the presidential family.
That being what it is, here's some information on the particular variant SLAF is to recieve.

Dear TropicalStorm,

Your blog is alright but there is more. Reason why I say it is good, it discusses some current affairs on SL ground situation. However it carries a little political touch in it too, yet it's made coloful with someone else's web content. Your own ideas are poor. Haven't you heard of plagiarism?

I'm sure you have your father, brother or someone else from your family in SLAF. No wonder you are proud of SLAF but do not forget the fact that you are proudly talking about SLAF all thanks to its current fleet too.

When terrorists hit A'pura air base, did you ever instantly believe they did it with those toy planes. Who expected that kind of behavior from the enemy? After all, the important lesson is, we could have prevented what has happened if we were alert, prepared and most of all suspected that there might be a possibility for the enemy to fly all the way to cause such damage.

Let's get to the point. Let the authorities decide wisely and take measured precautions on such future possibilities. Maybe MIG29 is considered after proper analysis. You never know how capable the enemy is and what they might come up with at this desperate moment. Isn't it better to learn through the mistakes we have made and to be prepared. Have you realised that things are pretty hot right now and our authorities have done something so far? I am so confident this time it is going to make history. I truly believe. I appreciate what our authorities have done so far. Do you?

Now I know you have better knowledge on fighters than me but no matter what you say I still believe MIG29 is the better buy than Su-25 Frogfoot. Of course quality won't come cheap, right?
To me, MIG29 vs. Su-25 is more like MI-24 vs. Bell 212. (considering attack capability, and that is what we need at this hour).

Let authorities make necessary purchases and then let our fly-boys play with 'em big machines. Don't get too political. Look back and see where we are so far and what we have achieved so far with political mindedness; Politics strictly for politicians and it is not a household.

No one is going to believe you unless you bring out tangible facts. Until you get hold of such facts, don't just open your mouth and insult another because if you do, you too insult yourself, your family, your friends, me and the whole nation.

Again:
The important lesson is, prevention is a result of alertness and preparedness. Where there security is, so are suspicions.Proper analysis required in between. Authorities may decide wisely.

OUR NATION CURRENTLY CARRIES NO ETHNIC CONFLICT BUT WE ARE AT WAR WITH RAW TERRORISM; THERE ARE MANY NATIONALITIES BUT WE ALL ARE SRI LANKANS, ONE NATION UNDER ONE FLAG.

GODSPEED DEFENDERS OF OUR NATION. THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING PROTECTION. YOU HAVE OUR HEARTS.

A Srilankan.

Sri Lankan;

There is no doubt that using something as sophisticated as a Mig-29 to intercept a sigle engined tincan is over-kill. Emotion does not make the irrational argument any more valid or worthy of consideration. The old Sia-Marchettis we have possess adequate capability to do the job. Why we do not want to do it that way is because we value the lives of our fighter pilots more than terrorists do for theirs.
Taking it a step higher, the modern version Mig21s called F7G's that we acquired, possess the ability to kill the tincans with less danger from ground based anti-aircraft fire. So do the Karakoram K-8s. we also possess a load of sidewinder A9 missiles that can be launched from the Kfirs at massive range. Given this scenario, the only reasons a reasonable person can assume to be behind this very expensive acquisition are corruption and/or fascination with high end toys. Neither is affordable to the starving tax payers, who deserve better recognition of their commitment to this war. Nothing you've said proves anything to the contrary. If any insult or disrespect has been caused, it is from the politicians who are becoming more arrogant by the day and apparently consider themselves beyond the reach of the common man's problems. The only insult in this context is the insult to the intellect of the common Sri Lankan, our weapons dealing family fattening political fat cats are causing today.

The views expressed here are mine. They've not been plagerized. where web content has been used, due credit has been given.

The A'pura air base attack did not prove the enemy's superiority. it was a classic example of the SLAF's failure to protect itself. That particluar air base was well known for its security lapses and party atmosphere. Buying expensive toys when your countrymen are starving does not compensate for the lack of descipline on the part of our officer cadre. Similar levels of negligence could easily have the Mig29s go up in smoke too.

Finally, I personally know the people commented in these articles about. I've been to school with some of them. I've respected them when they were out of power. Today I see them turning into upstart fatcats with arrogance that stems from being able to successfully hold a gun to anyone who disagrees with them. Some will fear that. Not all will.

Your last comment makes more sense than everything else. Alterness and preparedness will help. Acquiring hotrod toys don't necessarily mean either.
